Swedish financial investor EQT said on Wednesday
it will acquire a majority stake in Swiss cybersecurity and data
protection company Acronis.
The company said in a statement it will buy the stake
through a private equity fund, by buying shares from other
investors such as CVC, Springcoast Capital Partners and
BlackRock ( BLK ).
They will all remain shareholders, EQT partner Johannes
Reichel told Reuters on Wednesday.
EQT said Acronis' valuation had increased since a 2022
financing round, in which it stood at $3.5 billion. According to
sources, the valuation has risen 10-15%, to around $4 billion.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals
and is anticipated to complete in the first half of 2025.
