03:54 PM EDT, 09/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Synopsys ( SNPS ) and GlobalFoundries ( GFS ) on Thursday announced a collaboration to launch an educational chip design and manufacturing program at more than 40 universities worldwide this fall.

Financial details weren't provided.

The initiative lowers the cost barrier to custom silicon, aiming to give researchers, professors and students hands-on access to real-world chip design and manufacturing, the companies said.

Synopsys ( SNPS ) will provide the necessary electronic design automation tools and design training, and once finalized, GlobalFoundries ( GFS ) will manufacture the chips, the companies said.
