Taiwan is willing to take on more responsibility for defending itself, says premier

TAIPEI, July 17 (Reuters) - Taiwan Premier Cho Jung-tai

said on Wednesday that Taiwan is willing to take on more

responsibility for defending itself and is steadily increasing

defence spending.

Cho was responding to comment from U.S. Republican

presidential candidate Donald Trump, who said Taiwan should pay

the United States for its defence as it does not give the

country anything.
