Tata's Taj Mahal Palace is looking to hire former Jet Airways employees as it looks to expand its operations and is keen on staffers who are well-versed with the aviation sector, the Times of India reported.

The hotel operator is looking to expand its operations and the skills and expertise of Jet Airways' staffers are similar to those needed in the hospitality and tourism industries, a source told the paper.

Taj is the first from the hospitality industry to announce hiring of former Jet employees. In the aviation industry, Air India, SpiceJet and Vistara have offered jobs to the former Jet staffers. SpiceJet has taken on board at least 1,000 employees and has offered staff of the grounded airline first preference in terms of employment, the report said.

Tata's aviation joint venture, Vistara, has begun recruiting Jet Airways staff as it looks to start its international operations, the report added.
