Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. ( TTWO ) shares surged Tuesday after the company revealed Borderlands 4, the highly anticipated next installment in the iconic looter-shooter franchise, will be released in 2025.

The announcement was made during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, where 2K and Gearbox Software provided fans with their first glimpses of the upcoming title.

Borderlands 4 will be the fourth mainline entry and seventh overall in the franchise, continuing the series’ tradition of combining action-packed gameplay with a rich, narrative-driven experience.

Randy Pitchford, the founder and president of Gearbox Entertainment Company, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “All of us at Gearbox have massive ambitions for Borderlands 4 and are putting everything we have into making everything we love about Borderlands better than ever before while taking the game to new levels in exciting new directions.”

What Else: The announcement comes at a pivotal time for Take-Two Interactive, which has been leveraging its strong portfolio of titles, including the NBA 2K and Grand Theft Auto series, to maintain its position as a leading developer and publisher in the gaming industry.

TTWO Price Action: Take-Two Interactive shares were up by 2.86% at $154.81 at market close Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro.
