Talen Energy Says FERC Defers Rehearing Request for Rejected Amazon Data Center Power Accord
Dec 23, 2024 9:00 AM

11:37 AM EST, 12/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Talen Energy ( TLN ) said Monday the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued an order deferring the company's request for a rehearing of its rejected agreement to increase power at its Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, nuclear plant to an Amazon.com ( AMZN ) data center.

Talen plans to explore its appellate remedies following the FERC order.

The company is seeking to expand co-located load capacity at the Susquehanna nuclear power generation facility to 480 megawatts from 300 MW.

The company continues to execute under the current interconnection service agreement and work with Amazon Web Services on alternative commercial solutions to expand beyond the approved 300-MW deal.
