Tata Group in talks with Jet Airways to buy majority stake
Nov 5, 2018 9:44 AM

Tata Group is likely to a majority of stake in troubled carrier Jet Airways and its loyalty programme and both the companies have initiated talks on the same, said people familiar with the matter.

Tata Group aims to buy the 51 percent stake owned by Jet Airways promoter, Naresh Goyal, and Etihad Airways' 24 percent stake, sources privy to the matter told CNBC-TV18.

The company is also planning to merge Jet with Vistara which Tata Group owns in partnership with Singapore Airlines.

Jet Airways needs an equity infusion before March 2019 to be able to survive and hence this is being pushed from the Jet Airways end.
