Tata Teleservices posts India Inc's biggest loss at Rs 275 billion, says report
Jul 16, 2018 4:19 AM

Tata Teleservices has posted India Inc's biggest loss ever at Rs 275 billion for the financial year ended March 31, reported Business Standard.

The losses at Tata Teleservices, which transferred its wireless services business to Bharti Airtel in October last year for free, occured mainly due to the write offs taken on its wireless service business, the report said.

The company’s net worth stood eroded at a negative Rs 452 billion in the same period as Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran sets the house in order, according to the report.

Tata is not the only telecom company to face severe loss. As per the report, Reliance Communications too followed the pattern and ended up with a loss of Rs 239 billion, second biggest loss in corporate history of India.

Disclosure: RIL, the promoter of Reliance Jio, also controls Network18, the parent company of CNBCTV18.com.
