06:32 AM EDT, 06/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Teck Resources (TECK-B.TO, TECK-A.TO) on Tuesday said the British Columbia government granted the company an environmental assessment certificate for the proposed Highland Valley copper mine life extension project.
The certificate positions the project for a final construction sanction decision by Teck's board in the third quarter. The company will also work to secure additional required permits and site preparation work is expected to start shortly. The project is expected to extend the life of Highland Valley to the mid-2040s.
"This positive decision by the Government of B.C. will support extending the life of Canada's largest copper mine, strengthening the North America critical minerals supply chain and contributing to jobs and economic activity," said Teck President and Chief Executive Jonathan Price.
