Telesat Buys Property in Timmins, Canada for Low Earth Orbit Satellite Network Landing Site

08:41 AM EDT, 10/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Telesat ( TSAT ) and Timmins Economic Development said Thursday that Telesat ( TSAT ) has purchased a plot from the City of Timmins, in Canada, to serve as a landing station to connect data from its Low Earth Orbit satellite network, Telesat Lightspeed, to terrestrial points of presence and fiber in Northern Ontario.

Financial details weren't disclosed.

Site preparation is now underway, and construction of satellite antennas and networking equipment will commence in the spring of 2026, Telesat ( TSAT ) said.
