01:38 PM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A Tesla (TSLA) car that crashed into a motorcyclist in Seattle in April had the company's self-driving technology enabled at the time, according to media reports Wednesday.
The Washington State Patrol, which is investigating the collision, made the discovery after downloading the 2022 Tesla Model S's event-data recorder, the Associated Press reported.
The car's driver told authorities he was looking at his mobile phone while using the driver-assistance technology at the time of the crash which resulted in the motorcyclist's death.
Tesla and the Washington State Patrol did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
