01:11 PM EST, 02/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fewer Tesla (TSLA) cars were registered in California during 2024 compared with 2023, the California New Car Dealers Association said in a report from last Friday.
In total, 203,221 Tesla vehicles were registered in the state during 2024 versus 230,010 vehicles registered in 2023. Tesla registrations fell 7.8% during the final months of 2024, contributing to an overall 11.6% decline in 2024, the CNCDA said.
The electric car maker also reported its fifth consecutive quarterly registration decline in Q4, according to the association.
Tesla's market share also slipped 7.6% points in 2024 to 52.5% of the zero emission vehicle market, but the company still remains the market leader in the category in California, data showed.
Amongst all brands, Tesla's share of California's market fell to 11.6% from 13% in 2023, the report showed.
Tesla shares were down 6.1% in recent Monday trading.
