Tesla Ceases Membership of Australia's Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries Over 'False, Misleading' Comments
Mar 7, 2024 6:35 AM

09:22 AM EST, 03/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) said Thursday that it will "cease" its membership of Australia's Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries at the end of 2023/2024 financial year due to "false and misleading" remarks by the industry organization.

The electric vehicle maker raised concerns regarding FCAI's comments about claimed price impact which were "demonstrably false," the company said in a letter to FCAI.

"Tesla is also concerned that it is inappropriate for the FCAI to foreshadow or coordinate whether and how competitor brands implement price changes in response to environmental regulations such as the NVES," the letter said.

The US company said it has requested the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to look over the matter.

Tesla said it has also asked the FCAI to correct the claims.

The FCAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Tesla were down 1% in recent Thursday premarket activity.
