05:37 AM EDT, 03/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk said Thursday the company may be able to "tape out" its next-generation AI6 chip design in December.

"With some luck and acceleration using AI, we might be able to tape out AI6 in December," Musk said in a post on social media platform X.

Tape-out refers to the finalization of a semiconductor design for manufacturing.

Last year, Musk said Samsung's new Texas fab will be dedicated to making the electric vehicle maker's AI6 chip.
