06:30 AM EDT, 07/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) opened its first showroom in India on Tuesday, marking the electric vehicle maker's debut in the country, according to news outlets.

The showroom is located in an upscale commercial complex in Mumbai.

Tesla will begin sales with its Y model priced at 6 million rupees ($69,904) and 6.78 million rupees for the long-range version, the AP reported, citing a presentation at Tuesday's launch.

India's EV market amounted to just above 2% of its total car sales last year.

Tesla did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
