11:00 AM EST, 11/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla's (TSLA) statement about securing Dutch approval for its Full Self-Driving system in February 2026 depends on it first proving the technology meets safety requirements under the agreed schedule, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority RDW said Monday.
RDW said Tesla owners should not contact its customer service because the messages will not influence its decision and stressed that approval will only follow convincing safety evidence.
"Whether the schedule will be met remains to be seen," RDW said.
New technologies without specific EU legislation must go through a full type-approval process, after which the Netherlands can seek an EU exemption that, if backed by a committee vote, would apply across the bloc or otherwise only in the country, the regulator added.
Tesla said on Sunday it has spent more than a year preparing a European rollout, giving FSD demos to regulators in most EU countries, driving over 1 million kilometers of internal tests, and seeking early-access programs or exemptions.
The automaker argued some driver-assistance rules are outdated and that fully rewriting FSD to fit them would make the system less safe and less usable, even after changes to improve compliance, the company said.
Shares of Tesla were up over 6% in recent Monday trading.
