02:04 PM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by warehouse employees over alleged violations of California's wage and hour laws.

The complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California Thursday accused the automaker of failure to pay wages for off-the-clock work and provide meal and rest periods, among others.

The complainants are seeking more than $5 million in damages on behalf of Tesla workers across the state, Reuters reported.

Tesla didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the company were nearly 3% lower in recent Friday trading.
