Tesla Gets Investor Lawsuit Over Self-Driving Claims Thrown Out
Oct 2, 2024 9:47 PM

04:41 PM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) was granted dismissal of a shareholder lawsuit that alleged the company of misleading statements about its self-driving technology, according to a court filing Monday.

US District Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin ruled that many of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's statements involved future plans and were not necessarily false, and gave investors until Oct. 30 to amend their complaint, according to the filing.

Musk has promoted the company's Full Self-Driving feature for years despite the system still requiring constant driver supervision, the plaintiffs had argued as per the filing.

"Plaintiffs do not show what information showed that Musk knew that his predictions about the timeline of FSD development, its capabilities, or its safety were false or misleading," Martinez-Olguin wrote.
