10:30 AM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday that the Model Y L, a three-row version of the company's best-selling SUV in China, may never launch in the US.

Production of this version is not expected to begin in the US until late next year, Musk stated in a post on X.

He added that it "might not ever" enter the US market due to the "advent of self-driving" technology in the country.

Shares of the company were down about 3.6% in recent trading.
