Tesla Recalls Powerwall 2 Systems for Potential Fire and Burn Hazards

11:01 AM EST, 11/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) has recalled about 10,500 Powerwall 2 AC battery systems in the U.S. due to overheating risks that could cause fires and pose serious burn or injury hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The recall, dated Nov. 13, covers certain units sold nationwide from November 2020 through December 2022.

Tesla has received 22 reports of overheating incidents, including six reports of smoking and five reports of fire, though no injuries have been reported to date, according to the notice.

Consumers who own a Powerwall 2 unit are advised to ensure their system remains connected online and check the Tesla app for a recall notification, it added.

Shares of the company were down more than 5.3% in recent trading.
