04:37 AM EDT, 08/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) rejected a $60 million settlement offer for a wrongful death and injury case involving the company's autopilot feature before ultimately being ordered to pay $242.6 million in the case, according to a court filing submitted Monday.
Lawyers for the plaintiffs in the Florida case said they approached Tesla on May 30 with an offer to settle the case for $30 million each for their clients, the filing said.
The clients include the estate of a woman killed and a man seriously injured in a 2019 crash in which a Tesla vehicle using the autopilot feature struck the standing vehicle in which they were in, the filing said.
The plaintiffs are demanding Tesla pay their legal fees since May 30, citing a Florida law.
Tesla, which is reportedly appealing the Aug. 1 Florida verdict, did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
