07:21 AM EDT, 05/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) laid off around 500 employees in its EV charging team, Supercharger, several media outlets reported Tuesday.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk reportedly said in an internal email that some key executives including Senior Director of EV Charging Rebecca Tinucci and Director of Vehicle Programs Daniel Ho have left their positions.
Following reports on the layoffs, Musk said in a post on X that the company "still plans to grow the Supercharger network, just at a slower pace for new locations and more focus on 100% uptime and expansion of existing locations."
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Shares of the company were down 2.2% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
