08:53 AM EDT, 06/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is being sued by about 10 French lease customers who allege Chief Executive Elon Musk's actions are prohibiting them from "fully enjoying their car," multiple media outlets reported early Wednesday, citing a statement from Paris law firm GKA.
"Because of Elon Musk's actions...Tesla branded vehicles have become strong political symbols and now appear to be veritable extreme-right 'totems', to the dismay of those who acquired them with the sole aim of possessing an innovative and ecological vehicle," GKA reportedly said.
The customers are asking the Paris Commercial Court to terminate their lease contracts with Tesla and ask the electric vehicle maker to reimburse their legal costs, according to the reports.
The lawsuit comes against a backdrop of plummeting Tesla sales in Europe, which have nearly halved since the start of the year. The slump has been blamed on Musk's political activity, including support of Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany, or AfD party.
Tesla, Tesla Europe and GKA did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
Shares of Tesla were up 2.3% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
