Tesla Reportedly Takes Ongoing Dispute With Swedish Unions to Administrative Court
Jan 7, 2025 8:40 AM

11:19 AM EST, 01/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) is seeking an administrative court order in Sweden to ask a government agency to ensure delivery of license plates blocked by postal workers in solidarity with other workers' unions against the company, according to multiple media reports Tuesday.

The electric vehicle manufacturer has been at odds with Swedish labor unions since October 2023, when a mechanics' union began a strike at a Tesla factory in Karlstad, Sweden, after talks over a collective bargaining agreement stalled. Since then, several other unions have sided with the mechanics, including postal workers, who are refusing to deliver license plates requested by the company from Sweden's Transport Agency.

After losing before several other courts, including reportedly Sweden's Supreme Court, Tesla recently asked the administrative court in Karlstad to require the agency to hand over plates, media outlets reported, citing a court representative.

It is not known how soon the administrative court will rule on Tesla's request. The Transport Agency previously has said it does not want to take sides by sidestepping the postal blockade.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request from MT Newswires seeking comment. The company shares recently were down 3%.
