07:01 AM EDT, 10/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) revealed Thursday its long-promised driverless robotaxi, the Cybercab, during an event at the Warner Bros Studios in California.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said the company will start building the Cybercab by 2026 for less than $30,000. The Cybercab prototype shown in the event has two wing-like doors, no pedals or steering wheel and has room for two passengers.
Musk also revealed a "robovan" that can transport up to 20 passengers.
Additionally, Musk said the company is aiming to make its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles able to operate driverless by next year.
Shares of Tesla declined over 6% in recent Friday premarket activity.
