03:07 PM EDT, 06/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) shares fell 2.2% in recent Thursday trading, a day after it filed a lawsuit against former engineer Jay Li and his startup Proception for allegedly stealing its trade secrets involving its Optimus project's robotic hand technology.
The electric vehicle maker accused Li of downloading Optimus-related files before leaving the company and using the information to launch his own company targeted at building advanced humanoid robotic hands, according to a court filing at the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
Proception's robotic hands "bear a striking resemblance to the designs Li worked on at Tesla," the complaint said.
Tesla is seeking monetary damages, as well as a court order barring Li and Proception from using its trade secrets, according to the complaint.
