07:47 AM EST, 01/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) last week filed a lawsuit in court in Luxembourg against the European Commission, according to the website of Court of Justice of the European Union.
Tesla is joining three Chinese carmakers BYD, SAIC and Volvo-owner Geely in challenging the European Union's duties on made-in-China electric vehicles, multiple media outlets reported Monday.
Commission trade spokesperson Olof Gill said the bloc was "ready" for the lawsuits by Chinese carmakers, as reported by POLITICO. The Commission has over two months to prepare its defense.
Tesla, which manufactures most of its Europe-bound vehicles in China, received the lowest duty rate of about 8% after an EU anti-subsidy investigation, while SAIC faced a 35% tariff.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
