Tesla Suspends Model S and Model X Orders in China After Tariff Hike
Apr 11, 2025 3:53 AM

06:42 AM EDT, 04/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) has reportedly suspended new orders for its Model S and Model X vehicles on its Chinese website and WeChat mini program, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

The suspension follows China's decision to raise tariffs on US goods to 84% in response to new US import levies.

Both the Model S and Model X are produced in the United States and imported into China.

In 2024, China imported 1,553 Model X and 311 Model S vehicles, Reuters reported, citing figures from the China Auto Dealers Association.

Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
