06:45 AM EST, 12/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla's (TSLA) China division will recall some of its imported and domestically produced vehicles, Beijing's market regulator said Tuesday.
The recall center of China's State Administration for Market Regulations Quality Development Bureau said in a notice that Tesla has decided to recall 77,650 domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles produced between Sept. 28, 2021, and Nov. 22, 2024, over a software glitch.
According to a Google translation of the statement, some cars may not immediately display tire pressure faults after the vehicle is started, posing a safety hazard.
The statement said that Tesla will mostly use vehicle remote upgrade technology to upgrade the software free of charge.
The regulator said 63 imported Model S and Model X electric vehicles produced between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26 will also be recalled due to possible damage to the fabric of the driver's side front airbag, which may tear and malfunction in an accident, posing a safety hazard.
Tesla will replace the driver's front airbag, the regulator said.
Tesla did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
Shares of the EV maker were up more than 1.5% in Tuesday's premarket activity.
