06:57 AM EDT, 06/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) on Monday notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a safety recall of up to 11,688 Cybertruck vehicles over a possible windshield wiper issue.
The company said excessive electrical current may cause the front windshield wiper motor controller to fail, which may reduce visibility and can increase the risk of a crash.
Separately, Tesla notified the NHTSA that is recalling up to 11,383 Cybertruck vehicles in which trunk bed trim sail applique could have been "improperly adhered and can loosen." Tesla said a loose applique can detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard for other drivers and raising the risk of a crash.
Tesla said its service will replace the wiper motor and will apply adhesion promoter and pressure-sensitive tape or replace the missing applique.
The carmaker expects to notify owners of the affected vehicles on Aug. 18.
