Tesla Wins Lawsuit Over Self-Driving Claims
Oct 2, 2024 9:59 PM

05:21 AM EDT, 10/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) won a dismissal of a lawsuit accusing it of defrauding shareholders by exaggerating the capabilities of its self-driving technology.

US District Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin said the lawsuit filed by shareholders did not show Tesla or its Chief Executive Elon Musk should be liable for stating they were close to delivering self-driving technology, the court ruling said.

Citing "safe-harbor" provisions contained in public announcements, The San Francisco judge said statements were either not necessarily false or addressed future expectations and failed to meet the standard of fraud.

The judge dismissed the case without prejudice, allowing plaintiffs to refile an amended lawsuit.

Tesla did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
