04:27 PM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) has "no clear visibility" on starting production at a gigafactory near Berlin following a suspected arson attack that damaged power lines supplying the plant, news outlets reported Wednesday, citing plant manager Andre Thierig.
"These are either the dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth or they're puppets of those who don't have good environmental goals," Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elo Musk said Tuesday in a post on his social media platform X.
The police launched an investigation as a group of far-left activists claimed responsibility for setting the power lines on fire, according to multiple news outlets.
The gigafactory halted production on Tuesday. Some news reports said the plant may reopen next week.
Tesla did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
Tesla shares fell 0.5% in after-hours trading. They dropped 2.3% in the regular session Wednesday.
