Tesla's Subsidiary Gets Ofgem's License for Energy Supply in Great Britain
Mar 12, 2026 3:28 AM

05:41 AM EDT, 03/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla's (TSLA) Energy Ventures unit has received Ofgem's license for energy supply to domestic and non-domestic consumers throughout Britain, the energy regulator said Thursday.

The authorization was effective March 11, which was approved by Ofgem's Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, it said.

"Following a detailed assessment, Ofgem has concluded that Tesla Energy Ventures Limited meets all statutory requirements and will be subject to the same obligations, monitoring and enforcement as all other suppliers from day one," an Ofgem spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email Thursday.

The EV maker's Tesla Motors was also granted an electricity generation license in June 2020, according to Ofgem.

Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
