03:54 PM EDT, 07/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tetra Tech (TTEK) said Thursday it was chosen by the US Department of Defense's Environmental Security Technology Certification Program to develop a mobile system to treat soil pollutants.
Tetra Tech and its partner, Texas A&M University, plan to design, fabricate and demonstrate a prototype mobile electron beam system for on-site treatment of soil and sediment with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The mobile system uses high-energy electrons to destroy chemical compounds. Tetra Tech's specialists plan to conduct field tests at various Department of Defense sites.
Tetra Tech shares rose 0.9% in recent trading Thursday.
