The ePlane Company raises $1 million, aims to launch human-rated 200 kg taxi by 2024
Mar 3, 2021 11:41 AM

With increasing congestion on the roads in metropolitan cities and urban areas, global policymakers and urban planners are now turning to the skies. Aerial mobility, a concept that was seen in sci-fi movies or as the top attraction at tech summits is now very much a reality.

An IIT Madras incubated startup, ePlane Company is betting on this opportunity and has recently raised $1 million in seed round of funding. Founded in 2017 and launched in 2019, the ePlane Company is the brainchild of Aerospace Engineering Professor Satya Chakravarthy and his student Pranjal Mehta.

Going forward, the startup aims to globally launch the human-rated 200 kg taxi for deployment by 2024.

CNBC-TV18’s Megha Vishwanath spoke to the co-founder and CTO, Professor Satya Chakravarthy to understand the details of this ‘flying taxi' vision for short-range intra city commute.
