There is clear lapse in following procedure in the Rafale deal, says Prashant Bhushan
Nov 12, 2018 1:24 PM

There is a clear violation of the defence procurement procedure in the Rafale deal and the government has not followed it at all for procuring 36 aircraft, said Prashant Bhushan, petitioner of Rafale case and senior lawyer.

On receiving documents on Rafale, Bhushan said, “In some sense, it answers the questions that we have raised, but it clearly shows the facts that the government has stated in their note which is neither in the form of an affidavit nor it is signed."

The Centre on Monday complied with a Supreme Court order and handed over to petitioners, who sought a court-monitored CBI probe into the procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France, the document detailing the decisions taken to procure the aircraft.

The document titled "Details of the steps in the decision-making process leading to the award of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft order" stated that the process as laid down in the Defence Procurement Procedure-2013 has been followed in the procurement of the Rafale aircraft.
