In a blog post for Fast Company, Shah suggested that by integrating ‘mong mode’ into their daily routines leaders can unlock new levels of productivity, creativity, and mental clarity.

“In the high-pressure world of entrepreneurship, founders and CEOs face a unique set of challenges that require unwavering focus and commitment. By integrating monk mode into their daily routines, I believe leaders can unlock new levels of productivity, creativity, and mental clarity,” Shah wrote.

In the blog post, Shah shared his own experience of dedicating the initial few hours of every morning to a ‘monk mode’ practice, which actually helped him to create a powerful and mindful base for the whole day. Apart from that, this practice has also helped him to handle the most important tasks with better focus and energy.

He, then shared some of the tricks and tactics for workers, executives and entrepreneurs to implement monk-mode mornings.

He mentioned that one can block off their calendar beforehand to have uninterrupted work, clear up their workspace to focus better and use noise-cancelling earplugs to block any audible distractions. Apart from that, one also needs to commit to not checking any notifications while practising monk mode.

Monk Mode mornings are also very helpful for the founders and CEOs, as it allows them to dedicate themselves and be focused on what they are aiming to achieve.

Shah recommended a few strategies for monk mode morning like dedicating time for deep work, prioritising strategic decision-making, making space for creative problem-solving, honing leadership skills, visualising long-term goals and delegating work.

According to research done by LinkedIn in March 2023, 47 percent of workers in India had tried and were successful in improving productivity by practising ‘monk mode’.

What is Monk Mode?

The trendy and rapidly growing concept of ‘monk mode’ is an effort made by any individual with the intent of simplifying life, reducing distractions and growing a deep sense of mindfulness and purpose. In other words, this term is a practice of being disciplined and focused on life similar to the lifestyle of monks.

The concept ‘monk mode’ is derived from the ancient practices of monks who seek spiritual enlightenment and self-discovery through meditation, and simplicity. These monks used to spend their lives in remote caves and other secluded places while disconnecting from the outer distractions to focus on their inside energy. In view of today’s context, monk mode simply means concentrating on one task at a time without distractions.

In simple words, the monk mode is all about committing to a goal without having any distractions in the path of attaining it.
