Tiger Tyagarajan — the man at the helm of Genpact for 12 years — set to retire in 2024
Nov 9, 2023 12:25 AM

After a 19-year-long stint at Genpact, President and Chief Executive Officer "Tiger" Tyagarajan is set to retire on February 9, 2024, though he will continue as a member of the board of directors. The company's board has appointed Balkrishan BK Kalra, Genpact's Global Business Leader, Financial Services and Consumer & Healthcare, as the next CEO.

Tyagarajan assumed the CEO role in 2011 and led Genpact through a period of tremendous growth. The firm, in a statement, said that during that time, Tyagarajan helped transform the company into a recognised industry leader with more than $4.3 billion in annual 2022 revenue, leveraging data and technology to better serve its clients.

Tyagarajan started off as the regional sales manger at Unilever in 1985, then moved on as the Vice President at Citibank in 1991. He served as the CEO GCF at GECIS from 1999 to 2002 and then took over as SVP Global Ops Six Sigma at GE Commercial Finance from 2002-2005. In February 2005, he joined Genpact as EVP and rose up the ranks over the years to become the President and CEO in July 2011. He is also on the boards of Kantar and Catalyst Inc.

James Madden, Chairman of Genpact's board of directors, credited Tyagarajan for his contribution and said, "Tiger has built a strong, diverse, and global team, focused on a clear set of prioritised verticals, geographic markets, and services. We look forward to his continued contributions on the board."

As Genpact is a global firm that advises clients on digital transformation, Tyagarajan has been at the helm of transforming a division of General Electric (GE Capital International Services). He believes an important difference between simply “digitising” a company and truly transforming it digitally goes beyond technology to develop the people and processes that make up a firm’s culture.

As part of the company’s statement, Tyagarajan who joined Genpact in 2005, said, "Leading Genpact has been the highlight of my career, and I would like to thank the entire team for their support. The world is rapidly changing around us, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved, staying ahead of the curve as a true partner to our clients around the world, empowering our employees, and transforming the communities in which we live and operate.”
