09:23 AM EDT, 06/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TMC the metals ( TMC ) company (TMC) said Wednesday it has produced cobalt sulfate derived only from seafloor polymetallic nodules.

The material, which is suitable for battery and energy transition markets, was produced during a testing project with SGS Canada, TMC said.

The move boosts TMC's goal of reducing reliance on land-based cobalt deposits, the company said.
