01:01 PM EDT, 09/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) said Wednesday it entered into two separate partnerships on artificial intelligence-related initiatives, one with Nvidia ( NVDA ) , Ericsson (ERIC) and Nokia ( NOK ) , and another with OpenAI.
The consortium of Nvidia ( NVDA ), Ericsson and Nokia ( NOK ) are investing in an AI-RAN Innovation Center based in Bellevue, Washington, leveraging T-Mobile's 5G wireless service to integrate AI into radio access networks, or RAN, T-Mobile said.
The company said the AI-RAN cloud-based network supports complex artificial intelligence tasks, including both internal and external AI as a Service, a cloud-based approach that allows access to AI features within T-Mobile's network without the need for specialized, on-site infrastructure.
T-Mobile, NVIDIA ( NVDA ), Ericsson and Nokia ( NOK ) were all among the founding members of the AI-RAN Alliance, which was launched in February and aims among others to enhance mobile network efficiency.
T-Mobile also said it signed a multiyear agreement with ChatGPT developer OpenAI, in a collaboration that starts with custom-building the first "intent-driven AI-decisioning platform" called IntentCX.
IntentCX will be incorporated into T-Mobile's business operations and is set to launch in 2025, according to the company.
Terms of the two collaborations weren't disclosed.
