T-Mobile US Fined $60 Million for Data Breach
Aug 15, 2024 5:10 AM

07:39 AM EDT, 08/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) was fined $60 million for data breach incidents and failing to promptly report these, violating the national security agreement that allowed its merger with Sprint to push through, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US said.

CFIUS said T-Mobile failed to prevent unauthorized access to certain sensitive data between August 2020 and June 2021. The company's failure to promptly notify CFIUS delayed efforts to investigate and reduce potential damage, according to the committee.

"CFIUS concluded that these violations resulted in harm to the national security equities of the United States," CFIUS said on its website.

T-Mobile did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
