01:48 PM EDT, 05/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Emergent Biosolutions ( EBS ) shares surged almost 83% amid heavy trading Thursday, a day after the company reported swing to Q1 adjusted profit and higher revenue from a year earlier.

More than 136.5 million shares traded intraday compared with a daily average of about 3.09 million.

Aspen Aerogels ( ASPN ) shares soared after the company reported late Wednesday a narrower Q1 net loss per share and higher revenue from a year earlier.

Shares jumped 55% as intraday trading volume climbed to more than 8.2 million versus the stock's daily average of about 999,000.

Carvana ( CVNA ) late Wednesday swung to Q1 profit and net sales and operating revenue jumped from a year ago.

Shares advanced more than 31% after intraday trading volume shot to over 19.4 million from a daily average of about 6.3 million.
