08:05 AM EDT, 08/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Belgium's imec, one of the top semiconductor R&D companies in the world, on Wednesday reported several chip-making breakthroughs at a laboratory it operates with ASML ( ASML ) using the latter's new chip printing machine.
The R&D company said it had successfully printed circuitry as small or smaller than the best currently in commercial production in a single pass using ASML's ( ASML ) new "High NA" tool.
The results show the potential for "High NA EUV to enable single-print imaging of aggressively-scaled 2D features, improving design flexibility as well as reducing patterning cost and complexity," Steven Scheer, senior vice president of compute technologies & systems / compute system scaling at imec said on Wednesday.
