WASHINGTON, May 5 (Reuters) - Senate Democratic Leader
Chuck Schumer on Monday called for a probe into a probe into
ongoing flight disruptions at Newark airport outside Manhattan
that have disrupted hundreds of flights over the last eight days
because of equipment and staffing issues.
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby on Friday that the
carrier will begin canceling 35 additional flights a day - or
about 10% - at its Newark hub. Schumer asked the Transportation
Department Office of Inspector General investigation "into what
happened at Newark so these problems don't get worse, or spread
to airports across the nation."
