10:09 AM EST, 12/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE), Aramco and Saudi Investment Recycling Co. said Tuesday they have signed an agreement to evaluate the development of a sustainable aviation fuels project in Saudi Arabia.
The project would use the know-how of the three companies to develop a sustainable aviation fuel facility that would convert residues like cooking oil and animal fats, the companies said.
Financial details weren't provided.
Separately, TotalEnergies said Tuesday that the SATORP refinery in Saudi Arabia, owned by Aramco with a 62.5% stake and by TotalEnergies with a 37.5% stake, has a production capacity of 460,000 barrels a day.
TotalEnergies also said that construction of the Amiral petrochemical complex in the country, which has synergies with the SATORP refinery, is "already a third of the way through in line with its initial schedule" and is expected to start in 2027.
The Amiral project, which is being developed by Aramco with a 62.5% stake and TotalEnergies with a 37.5% stake, represents an investment of about $11 billion, TotalEnergies said.
TotalEnergies said it is also building the Wadi Al Dawasir solar power plant in Saudi Arabia with partners Toyota Tshusho and Al Taqaa Zahid. The project is slated to be operational at the beginning of next year, it said.
