10:35 AM EDT, 07/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE) said Wednesday that it has closed its acquisition of a 50% stake in the solar, wind and battery energy storage systems portfolio, or BESS, of AES Dominicana Renewables Energy.
The deal comes after TotalEnergies bought a 30% stake in AES ( AES ) solar and battery assets under construction in Puerto Rico in 2024, the firm said, adding that the combined portfolio now exceeds 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy and BESS capacity in the Caribbean.
Separately, TotalEnergies said it completed the sale of 50% of its 604 megawatt wind, solar and hydro portfolio in Portugal to a group including MM Capital Partners 2 and Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure for 178.5 million euros ($209.9 million), representing an enterprise value of 550 million euros.
The company said that it will keep a 50% stake and continue operating the assets.
Also, once the regulated tariffs they benefit from expire, the company will buy the production of the assets and will handle their commercialization, it said.
