12:26 PM EDT, 10/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE) and QatarEnergy are developing a 1.25-gigawatt solar project in Iraq, QatarEnergy said Monday.

Both companies will take 50% stake the project each that will comprise 2 million bifacial solar panels. The project will be developed in phases and will come online between 2025 and 2027. It will be capable of providing electricity to about 350,000 homes in Iraq's Basra region, QatarEnergy said.

The project is part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project, which aims to enhance the supply of electricity in Iraq.
