France's TotalEnergies has reserved a hull from
SBM Offshore for developing the most promising
offshore oil and gas project in Suriname, the Netherlands-based
company said on Thursday.
SBM Offshore, which provides facilities to the offshore
energy industry, is working in partnership with Technip Energies
and in line with the front-end engineering and design
studies for what will become Suriname's first floating
production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).
A consortium by TotalEnergies and APA Corp ( APA ) said
earlier this week on the sidelines of Suriname's Energy, Oil &
Gas Summit that a final investment decision on Block 58 would be
made in the last quarter, with output expected to begin in 2028.
The firms also said that a hull for a floating facility
with capacity to handle 200,000 barrels per day of oil had been
secured.
Development of Block 58 is expected to begin with the
Sapakara and Krabdagu fields, which have combined reserves of
more than 700 million barrels of oil.
