TotalEnergies Shares Fall After Unit to Pay $48 Million by CFTC

12:30 PM EDT, 08/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE) shares fell 1.2% in recent Wednesday trading after its TOTSA TotalEnergies Trading unit was ordered to pay a $48 million fine by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The commission said Tuesday it settled charges against the TotalEnergies unit for allegedly trying to manipulate the futures market linked to a type of refined gasoline used primarily in automobiles in Europe.

The unit isn't registered with the CFTC, the regulator said.

TotalEnergies didn't immediately reply to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
