TotalEnergies Signs $100 Million Deal to Invest in US Forestry Projects to Preserve Carbon Sinks

10:11 AM EDT, 08/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE) said Friday it has signed a $100 million agreement with Anew Climate and Aurora Sustainable Lands to support projects designed to protect forests from heavy timber harvesting, back conversion to sustainable management practices, and improve their ability to store more carbon.

The investment will back initiatives in 20 carbon projects covering 300,000 hectares in 10 states in the US, TotalEnergies said.

The carbon credits from the projects will be acquired by TotalEnergies and retired beyond 2030, the company said.
